Always Stay Active!

The ABS (“Altijd Blijven Sporten”) or “Always Stay Active” panel consisted of more than 800 individuals who had registered to participate in the 2019 edition of the 7K or 15K “Seven Hills Run” (Nijmegen, The Netherlands) for the first time.

The original aim of this study was to test the extent to which two different motivational stimuli affected runners’ (1) training frequency and (2) likelihood to appear at the start of the event; (3) self-declared motivations for running activities; and (4) the likelihood to register for subsequent running events.

Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, we broadened the goal of this study and included in the third wave additional questions to assess how Covid-19 and the restriction measures taken affected running behaviour and motivation.

The data collected for this study, along with the codebook, are archived on DANS.
